Shipping & Receiving Clerk

  1. Practice safety first in all activities and keep work areas clean and organized per 5S standards.

  2. Schedule hazardous waste shipments to Pocatello-approved hazardous waste disposal and treatment facilities.

  3. Offer for shipment, hazardous waste and hazardous materials, including signing waste manifests and shipping papers

  4. Receive hazardous material shipments, ensuring compliance with DOT requirements

  5. Prepare hazardous waste and hazardous materials for shipment

  6. Determine hazard classification for each item to be shipped (using 49 CFR parts 100-185)

  7. Prepare and/or insure proper labeling, DOT container marking, and DOT placarding

  8. Store all DOT and EPA-required documentation for hazardous material and hazardous waste shipments.

  9. Performs administrative duties in support of activities related to the shipping of finished goods.

  10. Communicates and coordinates with transportation companies. Learn and use several shipping carriers systems to provide shipping tags and bills of lading.

  11. Handles routine questions and problems and maintains open communication with other departments throughout the shipping /delivery cycle.

  12. Confirms the accuracy of invoices, bills and charges relative to the shipment of goods.

  13. Logs order information into the computer and files and distributes paperwork as necessary.

  14. Maintains records and generates reports for accounting and other areas. Keep and file shipping and receiving records in an efficient manner.

  15. Provide excellent customer service to all shipping & receiving customers’ vendors, suppliers, and intercompany departments.

  16. Learn and use the available tracking systems for receipt and shipment of inventory, finished goods, parts, and other misc. items.

  17. Physically package material in a timely manner per specifications that will maintain the integrity of the package during shipping, including packaging product per customer requirements and instructions from inventory control.

  18. Learn and use the Oracle Procurement system to purchase and maintain shipping & receiving supplies.

  19. Physically receive incoming shipments, determine their destination and required transactions, and deliver them to their appropriate destination.

  20. Perform daily tasks with emphasis on cut off times and other customer requirements.

  21. Learn and use export regulations when shipping internationally.

  22. Generate ideas, initiate and participate in continuous improvement projects.

  23. Provide clear and accurate information to peers and customers, both verbally and in writing.

  24. Understand procedures, PC based programs, ON Semiconductor tracking systems, process flows, and office equipment.

  25. Become trained and certified to use a forklift to load, unload and transfer material.

  26. Communicate with line maintenance stores receiving and chemical receiving to coordinate all receiving functions.

  27. Cross train with other areas in logistics to provide coverage support.

Required Skills –

Ability to work with computers and learn new computer software and systems. Basic math skills required. Oracle and Office (word, excel, and access) experience preferred. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing utilizing e-mail. Ability to work with non-routine job functions and trouble shoot new situations as they occur. Ability to work with repetitive lifting and moving material. Ability to document daily activities with the systems provided. Ability to lift up to 75lbs. Ability to work effectively with others in a professional environment.

Training Requirements

  • DOT hazardous material transportation training (initial class should be at the DOT training center, refreshers can be handled alternative, EHS-approved methods)

  • Complete refresher training for hazardous material transportation training every three years

  • Initial 5-day McCoy and Associates hazardous waste training (to be completed 60 days from employee’s start date)

  • Complete annual hazardous waste training refresher, either with McCoy and Associates or an EHS-approved trainer
