ON Semiconductor Production Shift Manager in Pocatello, Idaho

Individual must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum direct supervision and actively promote continuous improvement in all activities associated with the position. Must have strong, management and leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in written formats and in presentations to employee groups. Ability to mentor Production Leads.

Works Fab shift schedule. In addition may be required to attend meetings and/or training occurring outside of regular shift schedule.

  1. Assurecompliance by shift personnel to safety rules and procedures and maintainsa safe manufacturing area at all times.Complete accident reports as needed and coordinate fire drills andother safety activities.

  2. Be an expert inthe flow of work through the Fab and facilitate the proper movement ofwork in progress through all areas.

  3. Work closelywith the Vertical Team Production Leads to coordinate and direct resourcesto keep the production line running smoothly.

  4. Work closelywith the Vertical Team Production Leads in supervising MTs on shift. Share responsibility for monitoring andmaking adjustments for the performance of the area, coaching Fab Operators,and driving company initiatives such as 4DX and 5S .

  5. Assure shiftperforms to production, delivery, cost, quality and documentationobjectives. Assist in equipmentsetup decisions as in allocating headcount, equipment, etc. as needed tomeet manufacturing objectives.Assure compliance with all quality systems, Real Time Dispatch, andHR policies.

  6. Working withVertical Team Production Leads, provide semi-annual and annual Fab Operators’performance assessments.

  7. Schedule Fab Operators’one-on-ones when needed or requested.

  8. Work withProduction Leads, execute wip management strategies. Set wip management priorities andmonitor performance to plan.

  9. Optimize shiftperformance to support Organizational goals.

  10. Establishmeaningful measures and evaluation methods determining progress towardsthose measures.

  11. Participate ininterviewing Manufacturing Operator candidates when needed or required.

  12. Working withProduction Leads "drive change", maintaining high morale, andproviding positive solutions.

  13. Using Fabtime (Cycletimemanagement software) will prepare reports for morning & afternoonstatus meetings.

  14. Attend off-shiftmeetings as needed or required.

  15. Represent theProduction Management Team in meetings such as Equipment Escalation whenneeded or requested.

  16. Working withShift Management Team, conduct daily shift passdown meetings.

  17. Be able to useMicrosoft Office applications and other software to aid on projectmanagement and tracking production indices.

  18. Help withorganizing and providing additional training to Fab Manufacturing Operatorsand teams: i.e. Promis, Wafer Handling, Clean Room, SPC, etc.

  19. Perform StandardWork Projects as needed or requested.

  20. Assist ProductionLeads, QTT, and Fab Manufacturing Operators with Test wafer management andother cost controls.

  21. Performs internalshift audits (Safety, LPA, Clean Room, Documentation, Certifications,& Wafer Handling).

  22. Establish andmaintain a rapport with the employees focusing on productivity,enthusiasm, and good will. Fosterteamwork and team accountability, provide leadership to demonstrate thebenefits of working together, and encourage team resolution of problems.

  23. IdentifyManufacturing Operators training needs in assigned Vertical Team on shiftand coordinate completion of training needed.

  24. Track Prioritylots and communicate schedule to prepare next processing stations.

  25. Keep focus onslow movement lots (Production leads informed, engineer notification for"Lots On Hold", control room for Stop/Start Notices, &reticle issues)

  26. Drive YieldImprovement & Misprocess Reduction actions on shift. (help track 5 why's, VCS & Lossfollow-up)

  27. Learn and managethe CADET system. Present on wafer Cadet Eventswhen requested or needed at the CAPA meeting.

  28. Interact with Line Maintenance and Process Engineeringin establishing daily priorities.

  29. Interact with shift managers from other shifts toprovide accurate pass down and ensure consistent behaviors.

  30. Champion zone for 5S as needed or requested.

  31. Sustain 5S program in all areas of shift engaging theshift employees in the program.

  32. Attend off shift/off site training when needed orrequested.

  33. Address and mitigate conflicts when needed orrequested.

  34. Using the Shift scorecard maintain positive andnegative feedback for shift Manufacturing Operators.

  35. Support Company goals and initiatives.

  36. Ability to multitask and follow through on projects tocompletion.

  37. Duties and responsibilities not limited to foregoingitems, but dependent upon Business needs.


  1. Demonstratesexpert knowledge of Fab process and production flows or has demonstrated a proven track record ofrapidly learning new concepts and process flows.

  2. Bachelors Degree is not required, but highly desired.

  3. Strong writtenand verbal communication skills

  4. Demonstratedproblem solving ability

  5. Ability tointeract in a positive manner with employees at all levels within theCompany

  6. Demonstratescomputer skills, including MS Word and Excel. Demonstrates skills and experience withusing Fab computer programs. Examples: thePROMIS system (Lot tracking, SPC Charts, etc.)

  7. Understanding of Employment Lawand administration. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  8. Carry one waferbox at a time where total weight is approximately 16 lbs.

  9. Stand whileusing a microscope.

  10. Stand and/orwalk the majority of time on shift.

  11. Place wafers inand out of a boat without rattling the wafers.

  12. Recognizedifferent colors.

  13. Hear, understandand converse in English.

  14. Wear appropriateclean room clothing to perform duties and responsibilities.

  15. Have the abilityto lift and hold at forearms length at least 15 pounds of dead weight.

  16. Work acompressed work week schedule consisting of a 12 hour shift three (3)days one week and four (4) days alternating weeks. May be a day or night shift.

  17. Carry and use aSpectralink phone.

  18. Able to gown, anddegown with a bunny suit to access the cleanroom.

  19. Able to performjob duties while wearing a bunny suit and adhering to cleanroom protocol.
