ON Semiconductor Senior Software Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona

ON Semiconductor is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to implement a series of micro-services to support a major strategic initiative from 2018 onwards. This position will work with a distributed agile and seasoned engineering team in the US, Europe, and Asia. This influential and exciting project will provide an eager and extraordinary engineer the opportunity to grow, achieve and have a significant impact on a $5 billion (US) organization.

The Senior Software Engineer needs to be comfortable working independently as well asworking with others. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and carries excellent written and oral communication skills . In order to be effective in this position, the candidate must have a solid understanding of the concepts and practices of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design and code reviews, QA, unit testing, staging/UAT, deployment and delivery, as well as source control systems, defect tracking and maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor more junior members of the team.

PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play primary role of interfacebetween the business analysts, developers and testers.

  • Lead and convert businessrequirements into application design.

  • Play an ownership/lead role inarchitecting the logical design of the solution with architect anddeveloper (UI design, application design, data modeling, anddocumentation).

  • Collaborate and lead testing/QAteam in the development and execution of test plans. Lead and manage theentire cycle of long flow (or integration), and support User AcceptanceTesting (UAT).

  • Ensure continuity of ITservices for functional users by providing the new ideas and technologyupdates, technical leadership, project leadership necessary to implementcomprehensive technical and business solutions and resolve complextechnical problems.

  • Act as an application ownerresponsible for more than one application domain in implementation and/orextension of existing applications and maintain relevant systems andprocesses

  • Provides technical (L3) supportfor applications. Support/negotiate/influence the users and businessanalysts in troubleshooting both application and business process issues.

  • Uses broad expertise or uniqueknowledge to contribute to development of objectives and principles, toachieve goals, and to resolve complex issues in creative and effectiveways.

Years of experience –

  • BA 6-9 years

  • MS 3-5 years

  • Ph.D. 2-3 years

Education – Bachelor’s, Masters’ or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems/Business information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Technical skills –

  • Strong experience of softwaredevelopment process from requirements definition to implementation totest.

  • Extensive programmingexperience necessary to create/analyze/design specific applications andlibraries.

  • Technical leadership experiencewith several systems development lifecycle in major projects that involvedifferent applications/systems/organizations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of thefollowing:

  • Cloud-native architecture

  • Microservice architecture

  • Continuous delivery pipelines

  • Has detailed knowledge of:NodeJS, NoSQL (Couchbase/MongoDB), UNIX/Linux

  • Preferred : Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS),Angular, Modern version control systems (Mercurial/Git)

  • Plusses : OpenShift, Atlassian stack, Java EE, previousexperience in Agile Development Environment
