ON Semiconductor Material Handler (Contract) in Phoenix, Arizona

ON Semiconductor's global, revenue generating Reclaim Center recycles manufacturing scrap from our worldwide factories, and the subcontractors. Scrap consists of, but is not limited to: nonferrous metals, copper, aluminum, silicon, tin, nickel, gold, silver, platinum, old computer equipment, and other raw materials used to manufacture semiconductors. In 2015 this center recycled more than 1,000 metric tons of scrap materials and 2,000 pounds of reclaimed precious metals from the company's worldwide manufacturing facilities. Scrap is processed, sorted and sold for reuse.

ON is looking for a detail oriented, conscientious expeditor to join our industrious team at our global corporate headquarters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive and sort scrap into lots based on material type, utilizing the Reclamation lot number classifications. De-trash finished goods and sort into pre-determined lots

  • Responsible for the correct classification of material scrap

  • Perform visual verification of material type prior to receiving into the database; Enter the data into the database after each step to insure and audit trail

  • Records and maintains perpetual inventory of quantity and type of materials received, stocked and distributed

  • Locates and distributes materials to specified holding areas using hand cart, pallet jack or forklift

  • Load and unload trucks

  • Follow all safety guidelines

  • Communicate effectively with supervisor/manager/teammates

  • Must be able to utilize a forklift, pallet jack, cart and lift at least forty pounds while standing or walking most of the day

  • Ability to tolerate extreme temperature fluctuations: no A/C, fans and swamp coolers: no heat in the winter

  • Extensive skills in accuracy are needed to process all transactions on the computer, along with maintaining a high quality of records and files for auditing purposes

  • Prefer a high school education with some college (will take in consideration for related on the job experience)

  • Requires flexibility for cross training as well as a high level of multi-tasking skills in order to function within the department

  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve without supervision

  • Considerable lifting and walking throughout the day, required

  • Experience with the forklift and pallet jacks loading and unloading trucks and willing to get a certified license for this equipment

  • Should be dependable, self starter and take responsibility for their own actions while being a team player

  • Good attendance as must, reliable and dependable

  • Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm M-F

  • 6 month contract with possibility of extension
