Director of New Product Engineering (Product Engineering Owner)
We are searching for power modules new product engineering technical leader to drive all product level engineering activities for EV-traction application at onsemi. This is the high priority and business growth for the division, and we are inviting you to join us in this exciting career opportunity.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and technical skills, a team player who is able to work with the global new products development teams and cross-functional organizations to drive all product level engineering activities and make decisions to achieve product performance, reliability, and milestone schedule requirements.
Represent engineering for product level decisions
Define product requirement document (PRD)
Identify candidate process technologies
System level model for product architecture
Identify most significant IP required for product
Estimate die size, CLC, and total manufacturing cost
Preliminary risk register
Lead team of design leaders for product development
Create FIT (Functional Interface Tool) for new die
Complete package electrical and mechanical models
Complete 3D model and simulation to verify product level performance meet spec
Coordinate design FMEA
Implement BKMs (Best Known Method)
Product design review and acceptance
Develop product design validation plan
Achieve process and product design freeze milestone
Provide design rules
Resolve technical issues to qualify and release products
Prepare content for bottom-up schedule
Work with technology development team (TD) to define Look Ahead Reliability plan
Ensure key deliverables from each functional team are linked, realistic, and achievable
Define cycle time for key deliverables
Identify critical risks and mitigation plans
Provide engineering content to product line manager for business case development
Die cost, package cost, overall product cost
Tooling expenses and CAPEX
Lead engineering execution
Lead engineering execution including die and package designer, product and test, application, reliability, and manufacturing industrialization daily
Coordinate and drive engineering decisions in weekly project team meeting
Support product handoff to manufacturing post product release
PhD degree in Physics, Electrical or electronics
15 years of semiconductor power module new products development
Strong knowledge and experience in power module modeling and simulation tools
Leadership capability to lead teams by influent and able to get things done across functional organizations
Oral & written English language proficiency is a must and able to represent engineering activities to executive leadership
Ability to multitask & self-driven to produce results in a timely fashion with strong sense of urgency
Able to travel and attend evening meeting calls
