ON Semiconductor Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania

As part of the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) team you will be responsible for Foundries and Subcons throughout the United States and Europe.

Working in a team environment, you will be directly interfacing with Quality Engineers from the factory, Manufacturing Operations team, Business Unit representatives, Failure Analysis Labs and Customer Quality Engineers. You will be responsible for Quality improvement initiatives, resolving and reducing customer complaints and performing audits throughout the region. In your role, supporting the customer, you are coordinating and following up with the analysis of returns, confirming the definition of root cause and implementation of corrective actions.

A major portion of this role is performing audits at our suppliers throughout the United States and Europe. Experience in manufacturing audits a must and knowledge of VDA 6.3 is preferred. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing is required. Approximately 50% travel may be required.


  • Ensure customer satisfaction by driving reduction of customer returns through reactive and proactive measures.

  • Fulfill customer specific requirements including auditing to IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 standards

  • Hosting regular calls with foundries and subcons to track corrective and improvement actions.

  • Ensure customer responses meet expectations and cycle time goals.

  • Attend and provide input during meetings with manufacturing operations and business unit representatives.

  • Support the customer quality team by ensuring accurate and thorough 8D implementation as well as supporting customer visits.

  • Maintain supplier scorecards and drive improvement

  • US and European focused role with international travel, mostly within Europe but some global (40%)

  • Knowledge of semiconductor processing and technology. Understanding of discrete and logic type semiconductors along with Image Sensing technology a plus.

  • Familiar with FMEAs and Control Plans.

  • Familiar with statistical methods for data analysis and a knowledge of SPC.

  • 5-10 years of experience in a customer facing role.

  • Audit experience required including knowledge of VDA 6.3 and IATF16949. Certifications a plus.

  • Familiar with electrical and physical failure analysis of semiconducotrs.

  • Familiar with various problem solving methods, including fishbone analysis, DOE, statistical methods, and 3X5 Whys.

  • An “ownership” mind set where you feel responsible for the success of the customer engagement. Self driven.

  • Good communication skills (English verbal and written) and being able to work in a team environment.

  • Organizational and project management skills to organize meetings, track actions and owners.

  • BS in a technical field or demonstrated experience in electronics industry
