onsemi is searching for a driven hands-on detail-orientated Engineering Technician to join our growing Manufacturing Engineering Department in our Hudson, NH facility. Responsibilities include bringing in new equipment, learn/upgrade and keep equipment operational in a 24/7 environment, troubleshot process related issues, train operators and maintenance tech, work with suppliers to bring in spares and consumables and be capable of designing parts and systems (under engineering oversight) to support equipment and processes.

To be successful as an engineering technician, you should demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering terminology, and be able to work well in a team. Outstanding engineering technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, a superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems.

  • Inspecting and modifying existing designs and prototypes for improvement.

  • Conducting research and collect data to analyze existing process to look for improvement.

  • Using CAD software, design, implement and improve components and systems under engineering oversight.

  • Run tests, diagnostics, and calibrations to various equipment.

  • Conducting experiments and investigations under the guidance of Engineers.

  • Inspecting inventory and reordering materials and technical components.

  • Analyzing operations and offering suggestions for improvement.

  • Gather data and assist with presentations.

  • Communicates issues with third party equipment vendors as needed to expedite troubleshooting, repair equipment, and ensure spares & consumables are on hand.

  • Authors accurate documentation for the operation and maintenance of various automated industrial equipment.

  • Train operators and maintenance techs on all shifts of a 24/7 operation to be fully capable of operating, repairing, and recovering down equipment.

  • Test, tune, and adjust equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.

  • Determines type of repairs to be performed, approves, and suggests modifications to equipment, and analyzes results to evaluate equipment performance.

  • Develops or improves techniques to meet quality, function, and cost standards.

  • Works with electrical systems and electronic components of complex industrial machinery and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.

  • Utilizes predictive maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data. Observes trends and makes recommendations.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and follow through with repairs of high-tech manufacturing equipment and electronic controls.

  • Responds to unplanned urgent needs in having equipment repairs performed minimizing down time.

  • Utilized a variety of hand and power tools to construct, renovate and repair equipment.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as requested.

  • Other duties as needed or assigned.



  • High school diploma or equivalent. AA degree, Vocational High School Technical training or technical trade certificate is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ general equipment maintenance experience, with strong manufacturing background.

  • Must have excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • CAD design experience a plus.

  • 3D printer experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of chemistry a plus.

  • Electrical troubleshooting skills a plus.

  • Understands electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems, fluid flow and controls systems.

  • Experience working with detailed work instructions and reading & interpreting blueprints & drawings.

  • Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel). MES & SAP, preferred

  • ISO 9001 and ISO 16949 experience.

  • Read and understand technical/repair manuals and vendor resources.

  • Hands on maintenance experience with operating, repairing, and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical manufacturing equipment

  • Experience using electrical testing equipment and expert knowledge and use of power and hand tools.

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with broadly defined parameters. Requires a high degree of judgment and initiative.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities at a time.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be self-motivated, showing initiative and drive to exceed performance expectations.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow 5S, LEAN a plus.
