onsemi is looking for a recent engineering graduate to work in the Site Operations organization in the Environmental Engineering and Operations department. Tasks will include but are not limited to the engineering and operation of the following systems: Heavy metals removal, fluoride treatment, ammonia reclamation, industrial waste neutralization, bulk chemical transfer and storage, bulk solvent supply and storage, sanitary waste biological treatment, and other systems that support manufacturing and site tenants. This position involves process monitoring, process improvement initiatives, troubleshooting support, facilities documentation, capacity monitoring, system modification (ensuring safe and reliable design, start-up, and cost), operations training, and documentation support. Further roles may include representing the site at meetings with regulatory agencies, cross-site meetings, and cross-organizational tasks as directed. The engineer must be able to work in a team environment including engineers and technicians, with a focus on customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities are important, along with an accredited degree in either chemical or environmental engineering.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Providing Environmental Systems Engineering support to the site.

  • Developing and driving world-class programs for the safe, efficient, and low-cost performance of various chemical and waste handling systems.

  • Working closely with the Environmental Operations Team to monitor, control, operate and optimize the environmental treatment systems.

  • Working closely with customers and support organizations to ensure uninterrupted service to manufacturing groups.

  • Working closely with regulatory engineering to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • Performing all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs


Required Qualifications:

  • Increased knowledge plus broader technical knowledge facilitates more integrative thinking.

  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Requires a technical (University) degree. (Exceptions approved by local HR).

  • The candidate will preferably have 2 years of experience in the field of environmental regulations in New York State.

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and preferably a master’s degree in a related environmental field of study.
