ON Semiconductor’s SWM Division is seeking an innovative and creative Software Developer to join the Software Tools team in our Waterloo office. We create a diverse set of products that demands an environment of constant learning, in a friendly and team-oriented atmosphere.
This position offers the opportunity to build the tools that other software developers use on a daily basis to create products that improve people’s lives. The ideal candidate for this position has a passion for programming at all levels, good communication skills and the ability to work well independently and within a team.
Responsibilities (may include)
Building the software tools to allow our clients to create world class solutions based on our custom DSPs and microcontrollers, including:
Integrated Development Environments (IDEs)
Compilation tools development (compilers, assemblers, linkers, debuggers etc.)
Software development kits
Designing and developing features that provide innovative ways to enhance the user experience when using our tools
Maintaining existing software tools and implementing new features or addressing issues raised by customers.
Providing technical content for end user documentation
Supporting diagnostic tools development
Product release activities including developing features for our continuous integration infrastructure
Support for customer issues or requests
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
Up to 2 years of experience in software design and development
Experience designing and implementing software for cross platform environments
Experience developing software to quality-driven processes or standards
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
Detail-oriented and quality conscious throughout development cycle
Strong software development skills in at least one of C/C , Java, and/or C#
Strong object-oriented programming skills
Experience with scripting languages, preferably Python
Eclipse plug-in development or Java/SWT experience would be an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies would be an asset
Experience or interest in any of the following would be an asset:
IDE & compilation tools development
Communications protocols such as USB, I2C, SPI, etc.
Digital signal processing
