JOB DESCRIPTION
A Principal Storage Architect is a multi-talented information technology professional and accomplished storage infrastructure expert that will contribute to a dynamic, infrastructure design team making a difference. The Principal Storage Architect core objectives include designing and executing on architectural directives while ensuring 24x7x365 infrastructure availability for an energy efficient, global semiconductor company.
The role requires versatility along with initiative. The ideal candidate will have extensive storage infrastructure design/engineering expertise, know how to think “outside-the-box”, and share in responsibilities designing, implementing, enhancing, and supporting critical corporate, engineering and manufacturing infrastructure. The Principal Storage Architect will work closely with other architects, infrastructure team members, application developers, and business stakeholders. Adhering to industry best practices to support onsemi’s business objectives and user community experience is of utmost importance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate and lead architecture and design discussions to create next generation storage solutions
Create storage strategy, positioning, roadmaps and plans to keep offerings relevant and updated
Evaluate storage technologies and products to further enhance current and future storage solutions
Define and develop technical storage architecture and standards.
Collaborate with technical leaders and application teams on system/functional design
Provide storage expertise and design services for projects, work orders, proof of concepts, and technology evaluations
Document procedures, provide consulting, review project plans, attend trainings/conferences
Coach and mentor others
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 20 years’ progressive information technology experience
Minimum of 15 years’ storage management experience with at least 10 years’ experience designing and engineering storage solutions in an enterprise environment
Extremely self-motivated professional who is committed to success, quickly adapting to change and maintaining composure in high-pressured environments
Mastery of technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing procedural and system solutions that are cost effective and meet requirements
Technical leadership expertise with storage design, implementation, and operations for major projects
Experience with containerized storage solutions (e.g. Kubernetes)
Extensive experience with NFS, FC, SAS, NVMe, SATA, and PCIe protocols, with a good understanding of transport layers
Expertise architecting SAN and NAS solutions with NetApp FAS and E-Series, HPE 3PAR SAN, and/or Dell/EMC
Experience with software defined storage solutions (NetApp SolidFire, Ceph, etc.)
Experience with object storage for private cloud (Quantum ActiveScale, Qumulo, Hitachi Vantara HCP, Nasuni, Pure Storage FlashBlade)
Experience with public cloud storage (Azure Blobs, Files, Queues, Tables, and Disks; AWS EBS, S3, FSx, etc.)
Solid Linux system administration competency
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to solve sophisticated business and technical problems

Effectively interact with business and technical audiences, tailoring the communication to broad audiences to achieve desired results
Exceptional use of visual communication (PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) tools
Demonstrated expertise presenting at all levels, ranging from technical to non-technical resources, including C level executives
Ability to effectively socialize and acquire approval for ideas, concepts, designs, and solutions is an absolute must
